User Interface Overview

Introduction

The new Resolve Insights interface provides you with access to key product functionalities, such as a detailed set of inventory views, creating and managing device and service flow discoveries, creating reports, managing applications, and syncing data with CMDB.

Legacy user interface

If you're missing any of the features in the new user interface of Insights, you can switch back anytime to the old one by clicking the Legacy Insights button in the top-right corner of the header. The button is available on each page and will redirect you to the old UI landing page, from where you can enter the old application pages.

Landing Page

After logging in, the landing page opens, where you can choose which organization to enter. The user interface then loads the entire application in the selected organization context. You can change the organization context anytime by clicking the Resolve Insights logo, which navigates you back to the landing page and selects another organization.

Header Menu

The Header menu provides access to a couple of elements and important information, such as access to the main menu, to the landing page, to general information pages such as Update License, System Health, and About, to the user profile in Keycloak, and the Legacy Insights UI.

In the secondary header, you can see the currently selected organization. You can also filter the content by Site, Category, and Group for the pages, where that's applicable.

The Main Menu provides access to several core modules: Discovery, Inventory, CMDB, Device Group, Applications, Reports, Settings, and Access Management.

Discovery

In this section, you can schedule the discovery of devices (Compute, Network, and Storage) and service components running in data centers and cloud environments (AWS, Azure). You can also discover application flows and manage service accounts. Discovery can be done on a targeted, per-device basis, over multiple IP ranges, by FQDN, or by subnet, or bulk discovery of a large number of devices in a single discovery operation.

Once devices have been discovered using the authenticated discovery type, they are added to the Inventory.

For more information, refer to the Run Device Discovery section.

Inventory

Here, you can view the details of discovered devices, as well as explore further details through various views such as Table View, Device View, and IP Address View. You can also view the details of hidden devices and duplicate devices.

For more information, refer to the Inventory section.

CMDB

In this section, you can configure a connection to your Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and manage what data to be pushed to the system. You can specify the target tables in your CMDB system, the field mappings, the frequency, and the rules of pushing data from Insights to your CMDB.

For more information, refer to the CMDB section.

Device Groups

The Device Groups page allows you to group devices based on various criteria per your specific business needs. Here, you can view, create, modify, and delete device groups, as well as combine them into device group categories for an even more detailed overview of your system.

For more information, refer to the Groups section.

note

The filters are only visible if there are existing Device Groups and Categories in your Insights instance.

Reports

In the Reports module, you can generate and manage on-demand reports necessary for monitoring the system and network health and for troubleshooting network problems.

For more information, refer to the Reports section.

Applications

The Applications module allows you to create business application entities, such as application services and flows, in both physical and virtual environments. You can group applications into Business processes, correlating Business KPIs with the underlying application and infrastructure entities.

For more information, refer to the Applications section.

Settings

In this menu, you can configure various global and organization-specific settings for email, service definitions, logging, service definitions, custom device definitions, and duplicate criteria

For more information, refer to the Administration section.

Access Management

In this section, you can manage users, access groups, and roles.
